First Team Experience for Jacie

We decided to have Jacie join an indoor soccer league this Winter. My brother-in-law was trying to recruit enough players to make a team so she got to play with a couple of her cousins on the team as well. The team was for 4-5 year olds and let me remind you that she just barely turned 4 so she was a younger one on the team. The first practice went pretty well, Jacie did a great job kicking the ball into the net and taking turns with the other kids doing so, then came the game. She didn't like the idea of the game at all. She told us on the way home that she didn't like soccer and when we asked her why she said that she couldn't get the ball and that the boys weren't letting her kick the ball. We asked her what would be a better way to play the game and she said if she could be the only one to kick the ball. We discussed how that's not really playing on a team at that point, well, she said I don't want to share the ball with all the other kids so I'm not playing. And she was right, she simply wouldn't play at any games after that. The practices were okay, but she refused to play in the games.
Oh well, it's her first team sport experience and she was able to get a t-shirt, picture and a trophy at the end. We don't have any pictures of her playing since we didn't have a camera the first time and she never went on the field to play after that! Silly girl! I think we need to try gymnastics or dance...something where she doesn't have to share with others as much (at least for now)!
P.S. Curt took the pictures (I had to race to the bathroom with Rylie).

We haven't done soccer yet, but I could see my girls responding the same way as Jacie. At least she got her feet wet. Baby steps, right?

At least it was indoors. We have been playing outside and it has been miserable. My little one has to bundle up in several layers to get her out there!
