Happy Easter!

We woke up to Jacie, in our room, shouting, "The Easter Bunny came! The Easter Bunny came!" She immediately wanted everyone upstairs to see what was left for them. She has been looking forward to Easter for a long time, especially the past week. Each day she would ask if it was Easter. One day she woke up super early to hurry upstairs and find her basket full and candy to hunt, only to be disappointed that it wasn't Easter morning after all. We hurried and got everyone dressed and the girls ran upstairs. They were so excited that the Easter Bunny hadn't forgotten baby Tyler. They loved their baskets and loved searching for the eggs and candy. Rylie, our candy chomper, was trying to eat as much candy as she could and managed to eat all of her gum (shaped like eggs) in one mouthful. Jacie just loves getting the eggs and likes some of the candy, but wasn't as excited about eating it as she was finding it. Tyler, of course, is just too small to care right now. In fact, he woke up, ate and went right back to sleep even amidst the excited Jacie shouting next to him..."Look at your stuff Tyler, look at what the Easter Bunny brought for you.". We had such a fun morning!

Easter Egg Hunts (pics are coming..on other memory card)

Yesterday, we decided to try out a different Easter egg hunt area so we headed up to one closer to the mountains. Although it had rained by our house, in this area it had snowed quite a bit. So, when we arrived, we were flagged into a parking lot area and motioned to keep driving through. We saw a chicken and the Easter Bunny just standing on the side waving to the cars as they passed, it seemed a little odd that they were just standing there waving and it did seem a little bit odd that we were going to be able to park so close to the actual park area. Then, we saw it....lines of cars with people on either side handing eggs into the windows. Are you kidding me? A drive-thru Easter egg hand-out? That's a definite first! In all my years of Easter egg hunting, I have never heard of them doing something like this. The girls were happy to get some eggs and candy, but disappointed and I have to say I was too...we went to this locaiton because they were going to have face painting and balloon animals and pictures with the Easter Bunny and now, nothing but some eggs handed in for the kids to have. Doesn't that take away all of the fun of the whole "hunt" idea?
We couldn't have that be their only Easter egg hunt, so we decided to go to another one in the vallley and we still had more than an hour to get there and be early. So, we headed out to that one and it was so fun. This hunt was the best one I've ever seen. They had lots of different age divided areas and in the girls' area, the 3-5 year old section, they had eggs with quarters in them and stuffed animals, hats, masks, and candy thrown all over the ground. The girls were in Easter heaven....it definitely made up for the drive-thru Easter experience before. As we were leaving, Jacie said "Mom, that is definitely a finale". I was a bit confused..."why do you say that?" "Because it was so much fun...it was the fun-ale." I love it! And yes, for the day, it was the final egg hunt and a good "fun-ale" it was!!!
