Fun in the Sun

We took a last minute trip to St. George this past UEA weekend and it was the perfect thing for us to do. Curt has been working lots of hours renovating a home and we just haven't had much family time, so we thought it would be fun to get away and go somewhere warm. So, we headed to St. George and stayed in a condo. Most of the time was spent swimming and relaxing. The kids had their "own room" and wanted to hang out in the room and watch cartoons whenever we were in the condo.

So, I wanted to include one of these pictures...they loved the jacuzzi tub and this one was the least revealing!!!

After eating one night, we decided to go by the St. George Temple and Visitors Center so the girls could walk around and see the temple and the Cristus. They loved it and Jacie said it made her feel so happy to be by Jesus' home. She said that she wanted to go inside and see Him.

We went to Snow Canyon to do some "hiking" with the girls. Snow Canyon is great, it has some red rock, lava rocks and some white sandstone mountains. It has such a variety of beautiful features. I love looking at the red rock mountains framed by the clear, blue sky. The girls loved the petrified sand dunes, but didn't want to take any pictures, so I've added some of the best ones I could get. They loved to play with the red sand and Jacie stopped at each sand pile to point it out to us and play in each one. It was great to get away from the city and to be in nature.

We also found a really fun playground that was close. We were excited for the girls to play and then, Jacie decided to be little miss stubborn and had a tantrum right as we got there. She wanted me to carry her the entire way and I told her she was a big girl and could walk by herself. Well, she decided she wouldn't go in at all and decided to throw a fit for 30 minutes instead. So, I played with Rylie while Curt kept an eye on Jacie. She never once came in to play! She is so strong-willed, we are worried about what it will be like when she's a teenager. It's frustrating, but in some aspects, that can be a really good quality in life. I try to keep that in perspective when she is not wanting to give in at all! At least Rylie had a blast!

This is a picture Jacie took of me while we were driving...we let her play with the camera to help pass some of the time and we were amazed at how great she did!

All in all, we had a wonderful time and we wished that we could just stay and live like this all the time. Wouldn't that be nice...just playing and having fun with your family?! It was hard to get out of the pool our last time and realize we won't be swimming, at least outside, for a very long time. I guess this trip was our final goodbye to summer!

It seems like you had a blast. Your family is so cute. I hear you about strong willed girls. I have one myself. But like you said that is a good quality to have in the hard teenage years.

Aaah... That beautiful Utah scenery. Zach and I have been missing it lately. Looking at your pictures, I miss it even more! About that stubborn daughter of yours, my oldest is the exact same way! I'd like to think it's because she is ultimately a valiant soul and is destined for leadership. At least no one will push her around in life!
